Cruise Ship Career Preparation Portfolio

Create twelve private CR1–CR12 activities covering recruitment checks, contract questions, joining preparation, shipboard conduct, finances and the complete contract journey. Activities are self-directed, not tutor graded, and do not gate completion. Use fictional examples only; never enter actual passport, medical, bank, employer or guest records.

What the course develops

Choose with realistic expectations

Balance potential career experience with shared living, time away from home, work responsibilities and limited privacy. Cruise work is not a paid holiday; port visits are not guaranteed.

Check recruitment and joining requirements

Recognise recruitment scams and prepare questions about offers, contracts, documents and maritime training. Verify current requirements through the relevant authority and employer.

Prepare for life and teamwork aboard

Explore professional boundaries, multicultural teamwork, international guest service, wellbeing and authorised reporting.

Plan the complete contract journey

Practise financial record keeping, communication with home, contract completion and honest future career planning.

School leavers, students and adults considering cruise-ship work, and existing hospitality workers exploring a move to sea. This course contains 42,584 teaching words, 48 lessons and 35 hours 45 minutes of planned learning, including practical activities and assessments. Actual learner time varies.

Educational career and workplace preparation only. No recruitment, job placement, guaranteed employment, employer-specific training, STCW or maritime certification, medical certification, or visa, immigration or legal advice. The DiverseFX certificate confirms completion of this educational course only. Requirements vary: verify current authoritative requirements for your role and circumstances.

Assessment and completion

Twelve 15-question module quizzes, four 30-question integrated Track examinations and one 60-question integrated Final Examination use a 70% pass mark. A completion certificate is available only after the required learning and assessments are completed. It records course completion and is not an accredited qualification or a guarantee of employment or workplace outcomes.
