Professional Bartender Practice Portfolio

Build twelve connected BP1–BP12 activities covering role readiness, workstation preparation, hygiene, beverage knowledge, measurement, alcohol-free drinks, guest orders, responsible service, guest safety, stock/payment controls, busy service and honest workplace readiness. Self-directed and not tutor graded; portfolio work does not itself gate completion. Use fictional examples and safe paper or water practice. No alcohol purchase or consumption is required.

What the course develops

Prepare a safe professional bar

Understand roles, tools, glassware, opening checks, hygiene, ice handling and safe service boundaries.

Measure and prepare reliably

Develop beverage awareness, accurate measures and foundation build, stir, shake and strain knowledge alongside professional alcohol-free choices. Practical technique needs appropriate supervised practice.

Make responsible guest decisions

Work through age and identification uncertainty, intoxication awareness, refusal, difficult situations and defensive drink-tampering responses. Prioritise staff and guest safety over sales pressure.

Support dependable service

Practise order communication, tabs, payment checks, ethical stock/loss controls, teamwork, event readiness and closing handovers.
