Build eighteen connected AP1–AP18 activities covering role boundaries, child development, respectful communication, routines, activities, meals and allergies, supervision, collection, transport, privacy, safeguarding, emergency readiness, behaviour, family partnership, work terms, recruitment, induction and integrated professional readiness. Use fictional examples only: do not enter real child or family identities, images, health records or private contact details. The portfolio is private, self-directed and not tutor graded; it is not practical certification or an additional completion gate.
Clarify duties, developmental variation and competence limits. Communicate respectfully with children and parents and plan feasible daily routines, homework support and activities.
Maintain adult-child boundaries, protect privacy and respond appropriately to disclosures or concerns. Avoid secrecy, amateur investigation and unsafe employer instructions.
Understand allergy and medication boundaries, verified school collection, supervision, transport readiness and emergency escalation. Medical, first-aid and driving qualifications remain separate.
Evaluate roles and work terms, recognise scams, prepare a truthful CV, ask useful interview questions and plan induction, feedback and professional handover.
School leavers of appropriate lawful working age, students, young adults and individual learners preparing for au-pair roles, plus families, employers and organisations supporting responsible childcare-career preparation. The course contains 67,333 teaching words and 50 hours 21 minutes of planned learning, including practice and assessments. Actual learner time varies.
Professional foundation and career preparation, not a childcare licence, teacher or ECD qualification, nursing or medical qualification, first-aid or CPR certification, driving qualification, background or child-protection clearance, government approval, agency registration, visa or work-permit approval. Completion does not guarantee employment or domestic or international placement. Actual competence, lawful-work requirements, external qualifications and clearances remain separate. The certificate confirms course completion only. Child safety and safeguarding duties override unsafe employer instructions.
Eighteen 15-question module quizzes, six 30-question integrated Track examinations and one 90-question integrated Final Examination use a 70% pass mark. A completion certificate is available only after the required learning and assessments are completed. It records course completion and is not an accredited qualification or a guarantee of employment or workplace outcomes.
